At Niilo Wellness, our in-person counselling sessions in Guelph offer exactly that: a calm, confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, relational dynamics, and patterns at your own pace. 

We welcome all people from all ages and stages. In-person counselling for children, teens, students, adults, couples, families, and professionals can be truly impactful. What Makes Counselling at Niilo Wellness Different

 

The name Niilo {niilo: ˈniːlo / NEE-low} means victory of the people, and when combined with wellness, it is our vision; to support victory in the wellness of people. We hope for every person who takes a seat in on our chairs to find greater well-being in their own way.


Niilo Wellness is a collaborative community of mental health professionals committed to helping clients achieve optimal health as individuals, couples, & families!

Our team brings together Guelph Therapists with a wide range of trainings, specialties, and experiences, so that clients can find a therapist who truly feels like the right fit.

We also aim to keep therapy accessible.

Our Interns offer Reduced Rates and sliding scale options are available, yet limited, which can allow you to find support, without ever needing to prove financial need. Needing support should never have to be demonstrated beyond your willingness to begin.

What Therapy is Like

 

Most in-person sessions run for a therapeutic hour of 50 minutes. This allows an entire hour of time dedicated to your counselling and space for the therapist to tend to notes and other needs within your care.

Some clients come weekly, others biweekly or monthly; some prefer shorter stretches, while others build therapy into the rhythm of their lives.

Your therapist will check in regularly about how things are going and adjust as needed. It’s a collaborative process, shaped around your comfort and your goals.

If you’d like to meet a therapist before committing, we offer a free 15-minute intro session. It’s a relaxed way to see how you feel with them and make sure it’s a good fit.

While there is a higher than ever availability of virtual therapists, at Niilo Wellness we are experiencing a dramatic rise in the demand for in-person counselling.

 

Currently 75% of our client sessions happen within our offices - and the majority of the online sessions occur when a normally in-person client needs to pivot their session to online to best adapt to their day.
 

Being in the same room as your therapist can create a sense of grounding that many people find supportive, and this can be hard to replicate online. The subtle things like gestures, posture, and the comfort of the therapy chair can often help people feel more safe, deeply seen, and understood.

Many clients describe coming to our office as a place of predictable comfort, offering themselves a hot coffee or sparkling water in our reception area as they've stepped away from the noise of daily life to focus completely on themselves.

 

Our therapy rooms are quiet and comfortable, offering space where you can take a deep breath, reflect, and focus on your needs.

You’ll find us at 21 College Ave West, Lower Level, Guelph, Ontario. Our location is easy to reach from anywhere in Guelph and the nearby communities of Kitchener, Cambridge, Fergus, and Elora.

 

There’s free onsite parking and the office is easily accessible by bike, bus, or on foot, just steps from the University of Guelph Campus.

We offer reduced rates with student interns who receive regular supervision and training from experienced supervisors. This allows clients to access high-quality care at a lower cost, while supporting new yet compassionate therapists.
