Who Doug Helps...
Doug works with adults (18+) both individuals and couples (including dating, engaged or married), who are struggling with emotional distress, relationship conflict, major life transitions, or those who are feeling ‘stuck’ but are not sure why.
Many of Doug's clients reach out for support because they are feeling impacted by anxiety, trauma, infidelity, grief, or feeling disconnected to themselves or within their relationship. Doug aims to help clients gain clarity, improve communication, and develop more secure connections with themselves and others.
What Therapy is Like with Doug...
Doug invites clients to have curiosity to explore patterns that may be shaping their relationships and impacting their daily life. His sessions offer a compassionate, safe space where clients can express emotions without judgment. The structure Doug provides is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Family Systems Theory and allows clients to examine emotional responses, understand what could be happening beneath the surface, and with practical tools, it may be possible for shifts in the patterns that contribute to distress to begin.
Why Emotional Awareness Matters
Emotions influence how people relate to themselves and those around them. When our own emotions, or the emotions of others, are not understood, this may lead to reactive patterns, avoidance, or conflict. Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) provides clients the opportunity to gain insight into emotional responses, and how to engage with their emotions in a way that supports healthier communication, closer relationships, and personal growth.
