Meet Alex...
...A dedicated psychotherapist committed to assisting women in navigating life’s challenges to reclaim joy in their lives.
Alex is passionate about working with women who are struggling in their relationships, experiencing difficulty setting boundaries, and are feeling worn out from managing everyday life. She takes a special focus in working with women who are experiencing low self-esteem, burnout, people pleasing, anxiety, stress, and low mood. Alex supports women experiencing perimenopause and menstrual disorders including PMDD, offering practical support to manage symptoms, ultimately helping women embrace a more fulfilling life.
Alex further supports women who are struggling with ADHD (diagnosed or not), and is pursuing an ADHD Clinical Services Provider Certification to better support neurodivergent individuals, particularly women, facing challenges. From her specialized training in anxiety and panic disorder, she provides psycho-education to facilitate your understanding of the nature and purpose of anxiety, and helps you in developing tools to work through it. Being trauma-informed, she aims to ensure a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore what is holding you back from feeling authentic and whole.
In sessions with Alex, you will experience a collaboration that emphasizes trust, warmth, and even humour.
Alex integrates various therapeutic methods such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, parts work, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and attachment theory. She incorporates polyvagal theory in to her work to help you understand your body’s response to stress, helping you learn regulation strategies to develop a sense of safety and connection within. She uses a person-centred approach and will tailor her therapeutic style in a way that aligns with your unique needs and values, fostering self-compassion and a deeper connection to yourself.
Alex Daechsel is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) #13687 with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Professional Member with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association. Alex is currently available Wednesdays & Fridays for In-Person & Online Individual Counselling.
When she’s not guiding clients towards improved relationships and mental wellness, Alex cherishes time with friends and family, enjoys the serenity of nature, and finds balance through practising Yoga and Pilates.
