Meet Lauren...
...A vibrant and compassionate Psychotherapist who counsels artists, athletes, and high performance folks experiencing anxiety, burnout, transitions, depression, and ennui in exploring one's sense of self, expanding sustainable confidence, creating a framework of understanding, and developing actionable tools to live and maintain one’s most authentic and meaningful life.
Coming from a non-traditional psych background, Lauren has a range of unique life experiences from which to draw from and relate to. From competing across North America as an equestrian, working and studying at the comedy world’s iconic Second City, and acting in television and stage while in a metal band, she understands the demands and balance of a high-performance lifestyle, and the challenges and delights of relating to a wide range of personalities.
Resonating with the universal nature of existential philosophy, Lauren draws from a range of therapeutic modalities to have the best fitting tools for each client's specific needs. She also takes a relational peer-based approach having completed CMHA’s Foundations of Peer Support and Skills for Safer Living, drawing from her own experiences with mental health challenges and the systems around it. She loves working with individuals who are challenging and/or deconstructing their experience of the status quo.
Lauren works from a holistic and strength-based approach. She strives to understand an individual’s unique meaning making, resulting perspectives, experiences, and values. Sessions leverage one's natural talents and abilities even further, developing skills and addressing needs as they come up. She draws from dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to enhance her clients’ coping, emotional regulation skills, and purpose building. Lauren isn’t afraid to dive in deep and meet all the parts of a person, finding and following feelings with compassion and curiosity (Gestalt/Internal Family Systems).
Lauren knows therapy can be hard, but it shouldn’t be scary. She often filters sessions through an artist’s lens, taking great inspiration from Maya Angelou’s quote: “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” She meets clients as an excited, educated, willing peer, content to meet you “where you’re at” and find out where you want to go, and how you want to get there! She’ll note that not knowing is okay too.
Additionally, Lauren enjoys working with partners wanting to make a good thing even better. She has completed her Level 1 clinical training in Gottman Method couples therapy, pulls from attachment-based Emotions Focused Therapy, and is both poly and trauma informed. She helps create a safe space for folks to explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals, collaboratively and compassionately coming up with tailored solutions to unique challenges. She additionally offers a preventative approach, refining and building resilience in relationships, encouraging calm connection and communication that feels more sustainable and in alignment with one's values.

When Lauren isn’t in the office, she’s likely in rehearsals for something… jamming or performing with her band, in a musical, on set, seeing a comedy show, falling down a research rabbit hole, knitting socks and sweaters, dancing up a storm, or on a trail ride enjoying the forest or your favourite farmer's field.
